We know that the amount owed to the rental company is in two parts:
The daily rental rate + per mile rate
For the daily rental rate: We know that she used the car for 4 days. Therefore:
$38.15 per day * 4 days = $152.60
For the per mile rate: We know that she drove 380.5 miles. Thus:
$0.125 per mile * 380.5 miles = $47.5625
-> Rounded down to $47.56
Adding the total from both rates, we get:
$152.60 + $47.56 = $200.16
-> Answer D!

Hi Val - let's break up the 12 1/2 cents into two parts: a.) 12 cents b.) 1/2 cent. a.) We know that 1 cent = $0.01. Thus, if we multiply both sides by 12: 1 cent * 12 = $0.01 * 12 We get: 12 cents = $0.12 b.) To see what 1/2 cent is in dollars, we can again start from 1 cent = $0.01. If we divide both sides by 2: ( 1 cent ) / 2 = ($0.01) / 2 We get: 1/2 cent = $0.005. We then add the results of a.) & b.) to get what 12 1/2 cents is in dollars: 12 cent + 1/2 cent = $0.12 + $0.005 12 1/2 cent = $0.125. I hope this answers your question!

I was wondering, what is the process you use to change 12 1/5 to 0.12509/08/22
