    Here is another way to look at it.  You can simply set up a proportion.  For example,  miles/minutes = x/minutes.

10 miles  = x__miles__
5 minutes   3minutes

Now, just cross multiply:  10*3= 5(x)            

 

30=5x     Solve for "x" by dividing both sides of the equation by the number next to the "x."
