No, that is not correct. You are thinking that the expression in the parenthesis is being multiplied by the 2 in front. In fact, the 2 in front is being added. since no number appears in front of the parenthesis, we can imagine that there is a 1 since multiplying by 1 does not change the value of the expression. These are sometimes called grouping parenthesis in word problems, showing that 6-x stands for something specific.
So your expression can be rewritten as 2 + 6 -x + 2x. you can now combine like terms, 2+6=8 and -1x+2x = 1x. Putting that together, in any order you'd get 8+x or x+8. Both answers are correct since they are equivalent. Some teachers prefer that the x term comes first.
