Going out on a limb, it is SOUNDS like point H,B,D,C,J are on the line segment,
AND it is TUTOR's choice without the diagram!
Given: HD = JD
HC = JB
Prove: HB = JC
Since HC = JB,
then HD+DC = JD+BD
So then DC = BD by subtracting HD=JD from both sides
Since HD = JD,
then HB + BD= DC+ JC.
Subtracting BD=DC from both sides
completes the proof...
