Anthony Q.

Wyatt, this particular part of history is complex and would require a dissertation to explain in detail. Themistocles used some tricks to induce Xerxes to maneuvre himself in a way necessary to lose at Salamis, and to eventually retreat back into Asia Minor. The force left behind commanded by Mardonius was still formidable to the Greeks however, and required further tactics and major battles by Themistocles and the Greeks. If you need tutoring on this subject I am very capable of helping you.
Thanks,
Anthony Q.
