The sum of 7 and difference of 7. Is it possible or impossible?

I need help with my question so I just want someone to answer it

X + Y = 7 <--- the sum of the numbers is 7

X - Y = 7  <--- the difference of the numbers is 7

 

2x = 14 <-- adds the equations together, the Y cancels out

 

X = 14/2 = 7

Then y MUST be zer0.

 

So yes it is possible.

7 + 0 = 7

7 - 0 = 7

A sum is the result of an addition.

A difference is the result of a subtraction.

Both requires two (or more) numbers. 

"Sum of 7" and "difference of 7" are meaningless.

Think of this in terms of an Absolute Value problem.

 

-3 and +4 have a difference of 7

 

|-3| + 4 = 7

 

Both conditions met.
