There is less frictional forces acting on a ball rolling than a ball slipping . This is because in rolling, there are many points of contact with the surface, whereas in slipping, there is only one point of contact. It is easier to roll a ball on a surface of contact than to slide it.
If you were to roll yourself across the floor, almost every part of your body will touch the floor. If you slide yourself across the floor, then only one part of the body will be in contact with the floor.
