Do you know how to graph these two straight lines (linear functions).  When you do so, you can make the comparison requested.

 

You'll find that one of them has a greater slope than the other, but both lines pass through the Origin.

 

Can you see that y = 2x is the result of a VERTICAL STRETCH by a factor of two of the more basic y=x?
