In quadratics, the parent equation is
f(x)=x2
and translations can be expressed as
f(x)=(x-h)2+k
Where the vertex of the parabola is moved to the coordinates (h,k)
In f(x)=x2+5 we can see that the vertex is at (0,5). Translated 7 units up, it will become (0,5+7) = (0,12). So our next equation will be
f(x)=x2+12
