once cent is $0.01; also known as one Penny
two cents = $0.02
two decimal places are allocated for fractional parts of dollars; example: one dime = 10 cents = $0.10
one nickel $0.05
one quarter (¼ of a dollar) = $0.25
Now, in your problem, the monetary amount was given with three decimal places: $9.798 and what you must do is look at the THIRD digit after the decimal point; if it's 5 or more, increase $9.79 by one cent to get the rounded amount $9.80
