When current arrives at a node where it can spilt up and go in more than one direction , will it always split equally or can it sometimes split unequally ?

It depends on the resistance along the different paths.  The voltage between 2 nodes is the same regardless of the path.  Then by Ohm's law, the current will be higher along the path of lower resistance.  The only time the current splits equally is when each path between the nodes has the same resistance.
