A plane has a velocity of 300 km/h relative to the air. If the pilot points the plane straight north, when there is a wind of 80 km/h blowing towards the west, what will the resulting velocity be?

Also stemming from the origin will be a vector pointing to the left (West), labeled 80 mph.

Draw the associated rectangle, and draw its diagonal (from origin pointing in a sort of NW direction).
