Solve the following inequalities: a. |-2x+4|-5<10 b. 7+2|2-7x|>9

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right

For a. I got x>11/-2   or    x<19/2
interval notation:  (-infinity, infinity)

For b. I got   x<1/7     or     x>3/7
interval notation: (-infinity, 1/7)U(3/7, infinity)

|-2x+4|-5<10

Add 5 to both sides

|-2x + 4| < 15

-15 < -2x + 4 < 15

subtract 4 from all sides

-19 < -2x < 11

Divide all sides by -2.
NOTE:  Multiplying or dividing by a negative REVERSES The INEQUALITY

19/2 > x > -11/2

Turn this around to put the smallest quantity on the left...

-11/2 < x < 19/2

As pointed out by Kenneth,
Your interval is  (-11/2, 19/2)
Not (-∞, ∞)
