Question

I went on an 80 mile bike ride. I had my first snack after 1/8 of my ride and ate my second snack after riding another 1/5 of the ride.

 

What fraction of the ride had I completed when I had my second snack?

How much of the ride was left?

80(1/8) = 10 miles

80(1/5) = 16 miles

 

26/80 = 13/40 of my trip I have gone.

 

I must have 27/40 left (40 - 13 = 27)!
