Solving for r means getting r on one side of the equal sign on its own.
(4r−2)/7−(3−4r)/3=5/4
(4r-2) (3-4r) 5
------ - -------- = ----
7 3 4
Multiple both sides by 7, 3, and 4 to get rid of the division signs. Cancel the 7,3 and 4 in their own bit of the equation
3*4(4r - 2) - 7*4 (3-4r) = 7*3 (5)
Multiple stuff out, remember that two negative signs will cancel each other out
12(4r-2) - 28(3-4r)=21(5)
48r-24 - 84 + 112r = 105
Simplify
160r - 68 = 105
160r=173
r=1.08
Note that the way the equation was written out was a little ambiguous. It's hard to write division in one line and get everything right. But this is the process
