here's one of them...

x and x+7 are the numbers

x+(x+7)=49

2x+7=49

2x=49-7

2x=42

x=42/2

x=21

x+7=21+7=28

21 and 28 are the numbers

another solution...

x-y=7

x+y=49

add

2x=56

x=56/2

x=28

substitute

28-y=7

28-7=y

y=21

21 and 28 again

you could have used x and x-7 for the numbers

without algebra...

49/2=24.5

24 and 25

23 and 26

22 and 27

21 and 28 (answer) but you are in Algebra so you must use Algebra...
