Let's cut to the chase: I know this subject & how to teach YOU

Arturo O.

Kenneth,

Is "subject" another example of Common Core renaming of common mathematical terms?  It seems to me that the intent of this problem was to express h as the dependent variable.  Has "subject" replaced "dependent variable" in the new terminology?

Indeed, it has. They don't just say "solve for h" in terms of the other variables. Pathetic.

Well, maybe they will also rename calculus terms!  Perhaps instead of being told to "differentiate a function", students will be told to "disintegrate it."  Perhaps a "continuous function" will be called an "undisconnected function".  Exponential functions could renamed as "towered expressions."  "Logarithms" could be called "inverse tower variables."
