1. No matter how far you are from the earth you can never see the "globe," a three dimensional object.
2. If you want to see the entire width of the earth (7917.5 miles), that is not possible either.
Draw a circle representing the view of the earth.
Draw a diameter. The endpoints represent the "width" of the earth.
To see those endpoints your line of sight needs to be on the tangent to those points.
The tangent at the end of a diameter are perpendicular to the diameter.
Two lines perpendicular to the same line are parallel.
The 2 lines of sight never intersect to a point a view.
