What is the relevant statistic?

In an August 2012 Gallup survey of 1,012 randomly selected U.S. adults (age 18 and over), 53% said that they were dissatisfied with the quality of education students receive in kindergarten through grade 12. They also report that the "margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4%."

Hi,

This question does not appear to be asking for a margin of error--which is already supplied as +/- 4%--or even a confidence interval, ; the title says, "What is the relevant statistic?" and the exact same data was given in Madeline's previous question (also asked on July 3, 2014), where the question is, "What is the population parameter of interest?"

So I think what the two parts of the question are asking for are simply the population parameter of interest, which is the population proportion denoted by "p," and the relevant statistic with which that population parameter may be estimated, which is the sample proportion, denoted by "p-hat," and here set equal to 0.53 +/- 0.04.
