Quadratic Factoring

5x2 -9x -18
5x+ 6x -15x -18
x(5x+6) -3(5x-6)

I know the answer is (x-3)(5x+6). My question is, how do you determine whether to use (5x+6) or (5x-6)?

ANY MATH -I can break it down to the basics for you!

Thank you, but now I'm wondering is it dividing by -3 to make both answers the same? I was just dividing by 3 without the negative, which I'm aware is giving me the wrong answer. I'm just wondering if there is a rule I'm missing or adding the negative is just to make it easier. Hopefully, that makes sense.

The goal is to have the same thing in parentheses so in the end you can factor that out.
So, look at it this way:
5x2 -9x -18
5x2 + 6x -15x -18  **change the minus 15x to plus negative 15x

[5x2 + 6x] + [-15x -18]  **group the 1st two terms and the last two terms

x(5x+6) + -3(5x-6)

Maybe it's easier to see taking out the -3?
