the statement that you have written is 42 < 5n. then n is any number > 8.4; there are INFINITELY MANY SUCH NUMBERS.
But I suspect that you may have meant something else: 42 less than 5 times a number; this then is an expression
5n- 42. But this cannot be evaluated to find THE NUMBER unless you have an equation.
EITHER WAY, the question fails the reasonableness test, as given to us.
