The most important skill in solving word problems is being able to translate the words into mathematical symbols.
Once it's in symbol form, it's usually easier to solve.
times (multiply)
unknown number (n)
reciprocal of a unknown number (1/n)
equals (=)
reciprocal of 10 (1/10)
which leads to 6*(1/n) = 3*(1/10)
(6/1)*(1/n)=(3/1)*(1/10)
6/n = 3/10 ratio = ratio is a proportion, solve by setting the cross-products equal to eachother
6*10=3*n
60=3n divide every value by 3 to isolate n (get n by itself)
60/3 = 3n/3
20 = n or n=20
