original price is $24 and the discount rate is 40% what is the discount and the sale price

i am not quite sure how to solve this problem and once i know how to do this one i can figure out how to do the other ones.

Subtract 40% of the original price from the original price to get the discounted sale price.  The discount is 40% of the original price.

 

40% of $24 is 0.40($24) = $9.60

 

The discount is $9.60

 

$24.00 - $9.60 = $14.40

 

The discounted sale price is $14.40
