A = {2,4,6,8,10}
B = (10,20,30}
C = {1,3,5,7,20}
a) n(B) is the number of elements in set B, so n(B) = 3
b) A ∩ B is the intersection of sets A and B; that is, it is the set of elements that are in both sets:
A ∩ B = {10} since 10 is the only element in both sets
c) B U C is the union, or combination, of sets A and B:
B U C = {1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 20, 30}
10 is in both sets, but we only list it once
d) Sets A and C have no members in common, so they are disjoint
