I think you meant to say that "The founders believed that unlimited power was CORRUPTING..." or that "LIMITED power was correcting."  Anyway, Michael gave you a good answer.

It sounds like you're talking about the systems of checks and balances created by the Founders such that the federal government is comprised of an executive, legislative, and judicial branch. Because of the separation of powers among these three branches, no one branch of government (ideally) can dominate the other two.
 
The Founders did not want a king, dictator, etc., in the executive branch. This is why the American Revolution was fought. The American colonists wanted to break away from the despotic rule of the British monarch.
