Problem: f(x)= x²+1     g(x)= x+1    Find f(g(1))

Hi, could someone please explain how the answer to this is 5? 

I'm unsure how to work this problem. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

first, evaluate g(1)

 

g(1) = 1 + 1 = 2

 

now, find f(g(1)) = f(2)

 

f(2) = 2² + 1 = 4 + 1 = 5
