The function h(x)=1/98x^2 describes h(x), the height of part of a roller coaster track where X is a horizontal distance in feet from the center of this section of the track.  The towers that support this part of the track are the same height and are 150 feet apart. Which is the best estimate of the height of the towers?

B) 85.7 ft

C) 121.2 ft

D) 57.4 ft

I am going to assume that h(x) = (x^2)/98 (based on dimensional analysis).

Since h(x) describes the distance from the centre of the section of the track, and the length of the entire section of the track is 150 ft, then we should use x = 75 ft.

Plug in x = 75 ft into h(x).
