If you're talking about an octagonal box in PLAN VIEW then there should be no mention of hexagons. An octagon is not a three dimensional solid. I think you need to work on a better description of what you are doing. Are you talking about a box whose cross section is an irregular hexagon?? If the hexagon is irregular, you'll have a lot of freedom in choosing side lengths.
