results of equation have changed

Question

Since  40+40x0+1= 41 using pemdas you have changed the equation to the wrong answer.

example: If person A gives you 40 apples and person B adds 40 to it but person C takes 80 away but person D adds 1 what answer do you get ?

you say 41 but its wrong correct answer is 1.

When you change the order of the equation you come up with a different answer all togther

40x0 then + 40 + 1=41 but thats not what it says, says take 80 away not 40 then add 1.

Story problems must be read from beginning to end cann't jump around to get what you want for an answer that what pemdas the order of math tells you what to do so you would fail the test using this method.

Maybe you should stop changing the order of the equation! By changing what you do in the equation x first then + you have change everything

multiply first

40+0+1=41

in order to be 1, the problem would have to read (40+40)x0+1=(80)x0+1=0+1=1
