y = 4x − 5 The other answers are correct but I thought I would add how to get these answers to help you understand this better.
When we graph points we use (X,Y) coordinates and we use points to graph equations. Note the above equation has both an X and Y so I set up a small chart to find out the answers that work
y = 4x - 5 now pick numbers for X and solve them to find Y For example if X = 0 y = 4(0) - 5 so y = -5
X Y If x = 1 y = 4(1) -5 which is 4 - 5 so y = -1
0 -5
1 -1 If x = 2 then y = 4(2) - 5 so y = 8 - 5 which is 3
2 3 If x = 3 then y = 4(3) - 5 so y = 12 - 5 = 7
3 7
You only need two points to graph an equation, but as a teacher I always tell my student to get at least three points.
Now you can write them in (X,Y) form to have the anwers
So y = 4x - 5
The answers are (0,-5), (1,-1), (2, 3) and (3, 7) are the answers needed. If it is multiple choice all you
need to do is put the X values given in (X,Y) and solve to see if the Y matches. Be careful on multiple choice questions. Many times the first two ordered pairs will work but the last one will not so make sure to check all ordered pairs in an equation if multiple choice.
I hope this answer explained how to find the answers for you. The above answers given by another person were correct, but being an 8th grade algebra teacher I felt I needed to show how the answers were found so you would be able to solve these problems on your own.
Have a great day!
