Let no of subscriptions last year=x

 

25% of x = 25x/100

 

Total no of subscriptions this year= 4375=x + 25x/100.......        (25% more that last year)

 

                                  4375=5x/4

                                  3500=x

Check: last year no of subscriptions= 3500

           this year no of subscriptions= 3500 +  25/100 * 3500 =3500+875=4375 which is given.

 

Ans: No of Subscriptions last year=3500.
