finding the value of x

Question

If y varies directly as x and inversely as z^2 and y = 3 when x = 2 and z = 4, what is the value of x when y = 6 and z - 2?

 

would you please show my how to solve this problem.

y=ax/z²

 

a=y*z²/x=3*16/2=24

 

y=24x/z² solve for x

 

x=y*z²/24 when y=6 and z=2 or -2 since z is squared

 

x=6*4/24=1
