 There are 3 steps needed  to take to solve any linear equation not to stress

 

    First Step : Simplify both sides:

 

      3 ( 1.5 P + 9)- 18 = 9 ( 0.3 P + 2)

 

       4.5 P + 27-18 = 2.7 P + 18      / Here distributive law is used to simplify both sides

 

 

        2n d Step :

        

       Move variable terms to one side and constants to other.

 

         4.5 P - 2.7 P = 36 -27

         1.8 P = 9

  3rd step:

            P = 9/1.8 = 5    /  always you should end up with mx = n , X = n/m , in this case is 9/1.8

 

 

 These 3 steps always work.

The first step is to multiply out everything

 

3(1.5p+9)-18=9(0.3p+2)

 

(3)(1.5p) + (3)(9) - 18 = (9)(0.3p) + (9)(2)

 

4.5p + 27 - 18 = 2.7p + 18 

 

4.5p + 9 = 2.7p + 18  

 

Now combine like terms:

 

4.5p - 2.7p = 18 - 9   (Subtract 2.7p and 9 from both sides)

 

1.8p = 9                   (4.5p - 2.7p = 1.8p)
