No.  There is no need to balance fun and seriousness on Memorial Day.  That is a day to honor the fallen in war, and it should be a solemn occasion.  There are many other holidays where we can have fun and celebrations, like New Years Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.  But let us keep Memorial Day solemn, which is, after all, a day of remembrance for the fallen in war.
