Hi Lolli,
I will try eliminating x. To do that, I will multiply the first equation by -3 and then add the two equations.
-3*(x-3y=1)
-3x+9y = -3
3x-5y = 11

4y = 8
y = 2
Now, plug y=2 in the first equation to solve for x.
x - 3*2 = 1
x - 6 = 1
x = 7
