simlplify the following

〈 x8 - 8x8-2

Comments

Could you confirm the problem please?

Parviz's interpretatino is that it's x8 - 8x(8-2)

But it looks to me like the exponent of -2 outside the parenthesis:

(x8 - 8x8) -2

There is a vast difference between these.
They way is written only raises the X factor of the 2nd term to the power of ( 8-2) which is X^6 , not the whole expression.

If it should be written other way , students should be aware of their writing.
There's parenthesis around it!

 Go to the Comment Section:
 X^8 - X^6 =

 X^6 ( X^2 - 1 ) = X ^6  ( X +1) ( X - 1)

Comments

x8 - 8x(8-2) = x8 - x6

You kinda dropped an 8 out of there.
You are right thank you:

  Correction willbe

  X ^8 - 8 X^6 = X^6 ( X^2 - 8 ) = X^6 ( X + 2 √2) ( X - 2 √2)
