For ax2 + bx + c = 0
The x coordinate of the vertex is
at x = -b/2a
The axis of symmetry is the line
x = -b/2a
Example:
2x2 - 6x + 7 = 0
This is a parabola opening
upward from the vertex.
The axis of symmetry is
x = -b/2a
a=2, b = -6, c = 7
x = -(-6)/[2(2)]
x = 6/4
x = 3/2 is the axis of symmetry..
