How many animals are going toward the river?

If a rabbit saw 6 elephants while going to the river and every elephant saw 2 monkeys going toward the river. Each monkey was holding a parrot. How many animals were going toward the river?

It's all in how u view the text. Correct? The answer would change depending on your interpretation. For example: if u read it as 6 elephants seen 2 monkey with 1 parrot in each hand the u would get 2 monkeys 4 parrots or 2 monkeys 2 parrots.

I figured out 4 different answers. Wouldn't the answer be in how you interpret what you read and how you read it?

For example: if you read the line 6 elephants seen 2 monkeys. Would it be 6 elephants seen 2 monkeys each or 6 elephants seen the same 2 monkeys? And the line that says each monkey was holding 1 parrot in theirs hands. Would it be 2 monkeys holding 2 parrots or 2 monkeys holding 1 parrot in each hand or 12 monkeys holding 1 one parrot each or 12 monkeys holding 1 parrot in each hand?
