A total of 875 tickets were sold for a game for a total of $ 1,062.50 . If adult tickets sold for $1.50 and children's tickets sold for $1.00, how many of each tickets were sold?

 Form a system of equations like before and solve them. Use A for the number of adult tickets sold and C for the number of children's tickets sold.

 

A + C = 875

 

1.5A + C = 1062.50

 

 

Multiply the first equation by -1.5

 

-1.5A - 1.5C = -1312.5

 

Add it to the second equation 

 

 

-0.5C = -250

 

C = 500

 

 

Substitute this value for C into the first equation and find the number of adult tickets.

 

A + 500 = 875

 

A = 375

 

 

There were 375 adult tickets and 500 children's tickets sold for the game.
