If you were to shake the end of a taut spring up and down 10 times a second, what would be the frequency and the period of the sinusoidal wave produced on the spring?

For each time hand goes up and down a sinusoidal wave is created. So when the hand goes 10 times up and down, 10 sinusoidal waveform are created in a second.

 

This means the Time period, T = 1/10 sec = 0.1 sec

 

Frequency f = 1/T = 1/0.1 Hz = 10 Hz
