You need to try both.

 

First with a compass and straight edge, on paper, follow the procedure in the Construction Protocol listed in this: http://www.wyzant.com/resources/files/265219/construction_a_square_inscribed_in_a_circle

 

Then get your own copy of GeoGebra (it's FREE; Google it) and recreate the Construction Protocol I used.

 

Then you'll have first-hand experience you can use to describe the two in your own words.
