(3x/2-2) - 7/8 = 6x/4 - 3/4

3x/2 -2 - 7/8 = 3x/2 -3/4

2 -7/8 = -3/4

9/8 = - 3/4

 

You have an error in your equation!

Exactly how was it written originally?

 

Here's how your original post works out:

3x - 4/2 - 7/8 = 6x - 3/4

multiply all terms by 8 to remove denominators

24x - 16 - 7 = 48x - 6

-24x + 48x = - 6 +16 + 7

48x = 17

x = 17/48

 

This looks suspect too, but maybe not.
