The force that the flowing water exerts on the wall is the product of the mass rate of flow and the speed of the flow.

 

r = mass rate of flow = 27 kg/s

v = speed of flow = 16 m/s

 

F = rv = (27 kg/s)(16 m/s) = 432 kg· m/s² = 432 N
