Write a formula for Q as a function of n.

The cost to manufacture a product is proportional to the quantity produced, with a cost of $80000 dollars per day when 800 items are produced. The cost to store n items is proportional to the square of n, with a daily storage cost of $6400 dollars when 800 items are stored. In addition, there is a fixed daily cost of $1000. The total daily cost, C when producing and storing n items is the sum of production, storage and fixed costs.

Write a formula for Q as a function of n.

You should state that something is DIRECTLY or
INVERSELY proportional when posting these
problems.  The assumption is that your two
proportions are direct proportions.

Also, we are left to assume that Q(n) is to be
the function representing the total daily cost as
the sum of production, storage, and fixed costs.

This should be Arithmetic and Compositions.

Also, the answer was wrong when I typed it into my problem set.

Then check the wording on your original problem.
I see no error in the work.

Total daily cost:  C =  100n + 0.1n2 + 1000

or C = 0.1n2 + 100n + 1000

Is Q something different than the total daily cost?

The answer was .01n^2+100n+1000

My apologies.  My math error was in
misplacement of the decimal in
k = 6400/640,000 = 0.1
This was supposed to be .01

The problem was worked correctly except for
that typo.  The process is right so I hope you
understand how it was done.
