Hi Michael,
There are a lot of ways to identify the direction of longshore drift!
We could simply look at the angle at which waves break along the shoreline to map out the direction of the longshore current, or we could place floating objects in the breakwater zone to see which way along the shore they are pushed. There are also certain landforms, such as sand spits, that can be used to determine the direction sand is transported along the shoreline.
