Slope intercept form: y = mx +b
Given 3x + 2y = 7, solve for y
2y = -3x + 7
y = (-3/2)x + 7/2
X intercept is the point where y = 0
y = 3x + 6
0 = 3x + 6
3x = -6
x = -2
point (-2, 0)
slope and y intercept of 5x-3y=6
For slope put in y=mx +b form
or given ax + by = c then m = -a/b
m = -5/-3 = 5/3
y-intercept; set y = 0
5x -3(0)=6
5x = 6
x = 6/5
point (6/5, 0)
Slope of a line through two points
(x1, y1), (x2, y2) = rise/run = (y2-y1)/(x21)
(2,3), (-5.3):
m = (3-3)/(-5-2) = 0/(-7) = 0
horizontal line through y = 3
(2,3), (2,-5):
m = (-5-3)/(2-2) = -8/0 is undefined
Vertical line through x=2
