What is the net force action on the sofa?

While preparing to move, Jeremy pushes his couch slowly across the floor with a force of 250.0 N to the left. The force of friction opposing his motion is 295.0 N, and the sofa itself weighs 1225.0 N. What is the net force action on the sofa?

I can assure you, the opposing force of friction cannot exceed the applied force.  I suspect there may be a typo in the book that has this problem.
