Y=x+3 8x-7y=12

the second equation 8x-7y=12 I need to get y alone so I can then find the ordered pairs to the problem

From your first equation, get 

 

x = y - 3

 

and substitute for x in your second equation.  That will leave you with an equation in only one variable, y.  Solve it for y, and then substitute for y in either of the two equations to find x.
