How do I factor out (1/n) from this expression?

I need to factor out (1/n) from this but I dont know how.

 

(2i)/(n^2+i^2)

While your method does create a 1/n in the numerator it is not a COMMON factor and therefore cannot be factored out.

Look at the denominator:

 

n² + i² = n² + i²(n/n) = n(n + i²/n)

 

So now you have

 

2i / (n² + i²) = 2i / [n(n + i²/n)] = (2i)(1/n) / (n + i²/n)
