Lets state what we are given;
initial velocity, U = +6 m/s; acceleration due to gravity = -9.8 m/s^2
(A) after 0,5 s, the velocity V = U + g*t
V = 6 + (- 9.8)*0.5; = 6 - 4.9 = +1.1 m/s (upward)
(B) after 2 s the velocity V = U + g * t
V = 6 + (- 9.8) * 2 = 6 - 19.6 = - 13.6 m/s (downward)
